In 2008, one of Gary’s clients, whose husband owned a manufacturing company in Johannesburg, connected Gary with her husband to discuss a new venture. He asked if Gary would consider creating his own haircare range—an idea Gary enthusiastically accepted. With “beautiful hair, that’s our only condition” as the guiding principle, developing a high-quality range to ensure clients’ hair looked and felt exceptional at home, just as it did in the salon, was the natural next step.

The vision was clear: to create a haircare brand that could rival and even surpass leading international names. Countless hours of testing in the salon followed, using benchmarks like Kerastase, Redken, Schwarzkopf, and L’Oréal Professional to perfect the formulations. Finally, on 11 May 2012—four years after that first call—Gary Rom Haircare launched its first products. Today, Gary Rom Haircare proudly represents South Africa, crafted to suit the country’s unique climate.
